Anja Mehnert

Since 2012, Anja Mehnert, is head of the Section of Psychosocial Oncology, Department of Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology, at the University Medical Center Leipzig, Germany. From 2009 to 2012 she was head of the psycho-oncology and palliative care research group at the Department of Medical Psychology and the University Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany. In 2005, she completed her Ph.D. on trauma and stress and worked at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, as a postdoctoral research fellow (2007–2008). She completed her Habilitation theses in 2010 on return to work among cancer survivors at the Hamburg University. Her research topics include palliative care and cancer rehabilitation, treatment-induced cognitive impairments and quality of life as well as meaning-centered interventions, cancer survivorship issues, employment in cancer survivors, psychological co-morbidity and distress screening. Since 2012, Anja Mehnert is board member of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and board member of the German Psycho-Oncology Society (PSO).
